The family of former President Corazon Aquino declared the living spirit of the EDSA People Power Revolution on Saturday, Feb. 25 as it marked its 37th anniversary.

Aquinos have released a public statement commemorating the significance of the revolution that ousted former dictator President Ferdinand Marcos, Sr.

"Today, we remember the heroism of the Filipino people who fought to end the Marcos dictatorship, thus restoring democracy," they wrote.

The 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution has proved the power of a unified nation in reclaiming democracy.

To this day, the Aquino family assured people the solidarity in fighting against attempts to restore dictatorship and revise history.

In February 1986, millions of Filipinos marched out of their houses and went to the streets of Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) to trample down the 21-year dictatorial ruling of late former president Ferdinand Marcos Sr.

During that time, Corazon Aquino led the opposition and was sworn into office after Marcos was dethroned by the people's revolt — making history as the first woman president of the Philippines.
