10,483 examinees showed up on the first day of the 2024 Bar Examinations on Sunday, September 8, a slight increase compared to the Bar Examinations in 2023, the Supreme Court said.
The Supreme Court Associate Justice and Chairperson of the 2024 Bar Examinations Committee, Mario Lopez shared in a press conference the details of the qualifying exams for Philippine lawyers. According to Justice Lopez, 12,246 examinees applied to take the exams this September. However, some of them did not graduate or have encountered unforeseen circumstances, leading to their withdrawals.
Justice Lopez also pointed out that the applicants for this year’s Bar Exams are diverse, with 5,234 new examinees, 4,060 previous takers, and 1,189 refreshers. With the said applicants, he added that females outnumber male examinees.
There were also 155 senior citizens and 313 applicants with special needs. The Supreme Court said that the youngest examinee is 23 years old, while the oldest is 78.
To ensure the smooth process of the exams, 2,316 personnel were deployed across all the 13 local testing centers nationwide. Exams also remained digitalized this year.
The tentative releasing date of the Bar Examination results is scheduled in early December, while the oath-taking and signing of the Roll of Attorneys will be on January 24, 2025.
The 2024 Bar Examinations will be held for three days; September 8, 11, and 15. Road closures around Mendiola area were announced in mid-August by the City of Manila to give way for the exam dates this September.
