Thirteen passengers of a commuter van were burned to death after it was involved in a highway mishap with a dump truck in Antipas, Cotabato on Monday, March 25.
The fatalities were identified as van driver Nonoy Bunda, Ryse Vince Lopez, Irish Lopez, Coco Pojas Kimberly Shane Armada and Jenivive Vicente.
Authorities have yet to release and identify the final number of fatalities.
Based on initial reports, the passenger van was on its way to Kidapawan City when it got hit by an orange HOWO truck at Purok 2, Luhong Village, about 10 kilometers from Antipas terminal.
The collision caused the passenger van, which carries at least 15 passengers, to flip and plunge into a flood control ditch along the stretch of the highway in Barangay Luhong before it burst into flames.
The dump truck capsized and landed on its side some six meters away from the van and also caught fire.
The van driver died on the spot, while the driver of the dump truck was brought to the Antipas Medical Specialist hospital.
