A 13-year-old boy was killed in a hit-and-run incident between the Muñoz and Kaingin Stations on the northbound lane of the EDSA Busway on Wednesday night.
Eyewitnesses reported that three teenagers were crossing the busway when an unidentified bus hit one of them, causing deadly injuries.
Despite the quick arrival of emergency services, the victim was declared dead at the scene.
Operatives from the Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation (DOTr-SAICT), including Team Bravo, were the first to respond at the scene. They quickly assisted the victim and secured the area until the arrival of PNP officers.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) Station 3 in Caloocan City is overseeing the investigation and appealing to anyone with information that could help identify the driver and vehicle involved in the hit-and-run.
Authorities are investigating the incident further by reviewing nearby surveillance footage and conducting witness interviews to gather more details.
Following the incident, the DOTr-SAICT reminded the public to use designated crosswalks along the busway for their safety.
"The EDSA Bus Carousel is a major transportation artery in the city, and incidents like this highlight the need for increased safety awareness among drivers and pedestrians," DOTr-SAICT said in a press release on early Thursday.
