Opposition coalition group 1Sambayan on Thursday endorsed Vice President Leni Robredo as its candidate for the presidency in the 2022 national elections.
Former Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonio Carpio, the group's lead convenor, made the announcement during their program.
“1Sambayan is pleased to announce to the nation that it has reached a decision to endorse Vice President Leni Robredo as its presidential candidate for the May 2022 elections,” Carpio said.
According to Carpio, their decision stemmed after consulting its local and foreign chapters as well as their partners and three million members.
Currently, the group is comprised of 123 organizations and coalitions, 47 local chapters, 22 foreign chapters, and 12 youth chapters and organizations.
Robredo has not yet bared her political plans for the upcoming polls. However, she remains open to running for the highest post.
