33 areas in the country may reach a "danger level" of heat index as high as 47 degree Celsius on Friday, April 26, according to the state bureau PAGASA.

In its Thursday advisory, PAGASA said the following may experience heat indexes ranging from 42°C to 47°C today:

• Dagupan City, Pangasinan - 47°C
• Aparri, Cagayan - 46°C
• Aborlan, Palawan - 46°C
• Bacnotan, La Union - 45°C
• Cubi Point, Subic Bay, Olongapo City - 45°C
• Sangley Point, Cavite - 45°C
• Coron, Palawan - 45°C
• San Jose, Occidental Mindoro - 45°C
• Laoag City, Ilocos Norte - 44°C
• Tuguegarao City, Cagayan - 44°C
• Puerto Princesa, Palawan - 44°C
• Legazpi City, Albay - 44°C
• NAIA, Pasay City - 43°C
• Sinait, Ilocos Sur - 43°C
• MMSU, Batac, Ilocos Norte - 43°C
• ISU Echague, Isabela - 43°C
• Iba, Zambales - 43°C
• CLSU Muñoz, Nueva Ecija - 43°C
• Ambulong, Tanauan, Batangas - 43°C

The heat index is the human discomfort index that gives the "apparent" temperature, or what humans perceive or feel as the temperature affecting their body.

The effect-based danger classification ranges from 42°C to 51°C, and its effects on the body are that heat cramps and exhaustion are likely, and heat stroke is probable with continued exposure.
Symptoms of heat-related illnesses include sweating heavily, exhaustion or fatigue, dizziness, blacking out, weak but fast pulse, nausea, and vomiting.
