Around 4.7 percent of adult Filipinos have no jobs or businesses as of July 2024.
Usec. Claire Dennis Mapa, National Statistician and Civil Registrar General of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), said on Friday, September 6, that the figure corresponds to more than 2.38 million Filipinos.
"Ito ay mas mababa kumpara sa naitala noong Hulyo 2023 na nasa 4.9 percent ngunit mas mataas kumpara nung Abril 2024 na nasa 4.0 percent," Mapa noted during the briefing.
(The number is lower compared to July 2023 when we recorded 4.9 percent, but higher compared to to Abril 2024 when we recorded 4.0 percent)
Mapa also reported that around 47.70 million Filipinos, or 95.3 percent of adult Filipinos, have jobs or businesses as of July 2024.
"Ito ay tinatayang mas mataas kaysa sa naiulat noong Hulyo 2023 na nasa 95.1 percent ngunit mas mababa kumpara sa Abril 2024 na nasa 96 percent," Mapa said.
(This is estimated to be higher compared to what is reported in July 2023, which is 95.1 percent but lower compared to April 2024 which is at 96 percent)
