The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) held a change in command ceremony for the incoming Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Superintendent at Fort Del Pilar, Baguio City on Saturday.
The Command Saber was passed on to Rear Admiral Caesar Valencia PN, the new PMA Superintendent. He previously served as the Philippine Navy Vice Commander in 2022, and served as the Commander of Naval Forces Northern Luzon in 2019 before his appointment as Chief of Naval Staff in 2021.
He will be replacing Lieutenant General Rowen Tolentino PA, who has been the PMA Superintendent since August 2022.
General Romeo Brawner Jr., AFP Chief of Staff, presided over the turnover ceremony that also honored the retirement of Lieutenant General Tolentino as the outgoing PMA Superintendent.
“Under his guidance, the PMA has continued to uphold its proud traditions while embracing the challenges of the modern world,” General Brawner said in his speech.
He previously held key positions as the 42nd Commander of the 2nd Infantry “Jungle Fighter” Division, the 18th Commander of the 703rd Infantry “AGILA” Brigade, Deputy Commander of the Philippine Army's Training and Doctrine Command, and the Philippine Army Chief of Staff.
General Brawner also extended his warm welcome to Rear Admiral Valencia as the incoming Superintendent.
They are confident that he will continue PMA's legacy of excellence and service.
“We are confident that under his leadership, the PMA will continue to thrive and produce leaders of character and integrity ready to serve our beloved country,” General Brawner remarked.
