Typhoon Aghon is continuously moving northeast of the Philippine Sea on Wednesday, May 29, according to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Based on its 5 a.m. Tropical Cyclone Bulletin, PAGASA said the typhoon's eye or center was seen 870 km east-northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon.
It has maximum sustained winds of 130 km/h near the center moving northeastward at 40 km/h with strong to typhoon-force winds extending outwards up to 480 km from the center.
Meanwhile, PAGASA said the southwesterly windflow, partly influenced by AGHON, will bring moderate to heavy rains over the western portions of Northern Luzon, Central Luzon, and Mimaropa until Thursday.
Occasionally gusty conditions also brought by southwesterly windflow, partly influenced by Aghon, will be experienced in the following areas, especially in coastal and upland/mountainous localities exposed to winds:
• Today: Batanes, Ilocos Region, Zambales, Bataan, northern Aurora, southern mainland Quezon, Polillo Islands,
Palawan, the Lubang Islands, Romblon, Marinduque, and Camarines Norte
• Tomorrow: Batanes, Ilocos Region, Zambales, Bataan, Lubang Islands, and Kalayaan Islands.
• Friday: Batanes and Ilocos Region
"Mariners of motorboats and similarly-sized vessels are advised to take precautionary measures while venturing out to sea and, if possible, avoid navigating in these conditions, especially if inexperienced or operating ill-equipped vessels," said the state weather bureau.
On the forecast track, PAGASA said Aghon is expected to generally move northeastward over the Philippine Sea for the entirety of the forecast period and exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) this morning or afternoon.
