The government on Wednesday will be placing 28 more areas under Alert Level 3 starting January 14, according to acting presidential spokesperson and Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles.

The following areas will be placed under stricter restrictions as new COVID-19 cases in the country see a surge:

Luzon:

  • Benguet
  • Kalinga
  • Abra
  • La Union
  • Ilocos Norte
  • Pangasinan
  • Nueva Vizcaya
  • Isabela
  • Quirino
  • Nueva Ecija
  • Tarlac
  • Quezon Province
  • Occidental Mindoro
  • Oriental Mindoro
  • Camarines Sur
  • Albay

Visayas:

  • Bacolod City
  • Aklan
  • Capiz
  • Antique
  • Cebu City
  • Mandaue City
  • Tacloban City

Mindanao:

  • Cagayan de Oro City
  • Davao City
  • Butuan City
  • Agusan del Sur
  • Cotabato City

The following areas will be place under Alert Level 3 starting January 14 to January 31, according to the announcement.

Under Alert Level 3, the following establishments are not allowed to operate:

  • Face-to-face classes for basic education
  • Contact sports
  • Funfairs/perya
  • Karaoke bars, clubs, concert halls, theaters,
  • Casinos, horse racing, cockfighting, operation of cockpits, lottery and betting shops, and other gaming establishments not authorized by the IATF
  • Gatherings from members of different households

Meanwhile, the following indoor activities are permitted with a 30% capacity, while 50% for outdoor venues:

  • Individual outdoor exercise
  • Amusement parks or theme parks
  • Meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions
  • Wedding parties, engagements, debut, birthday parties
  • Tourist attractions, such as libraries, archives, museums, parks, and more
  • Cinemas
  • In-person classes for higher education and technical-vocation education and training
  • Recreational venues
  • Dine-in services

The announcement came as the country logged 32,246 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, according to the Department of Health, the second highest single day tally reported in the country since the pandemic began.
