Aliwan Fiesta Digital Queen 2021 finalists showcase their talents and skills

The second leg of the competition has been a tight match among the Top 12 finalists during the Talent and Skills Competition, September 18, Saturday.

Candidates from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao have conquered the Aliwan Fiesta Digital Queen virtual stage by showcasing their talents and skills in visual and performing arts.

Angelie Gabrielle Estrada of Puerto Princesa City painted ‘Spring in Darkness’ to give everybody a vision of hope. She described the canvas as the challenges that we face and later, a small seedling plant was seen on a hand started to grow, a symbol of a nurturing future. Coleen Beatrix Alcarde of Iloilo City did a spoken word performance entitled ‘An Open Letter to COVID-19.’ “Is this really happening,’ she quoted. “Instead of joy, you gave us fear where future seems unclear… Set us free!” Alcarde added.

The pride of Zamboanga City, Sharmaine dela Cruz, presented the graceful ‘Zamboanga Folk Dance’ and ‘Yakan Traditional Dance’ with the harmony of ‘Princesita Zamboangueña,’ ‘Chavacano,’ and ‘Yakan Pansak.’ Keith Arboleda of Echague, Isabela showed her singing prowess by beating the high notes of ‘Never Enough’ by Loren Allred.

From the island of Boracay in Malay, Aklan, Shealtel Kyle Cahilig performed a fiery dance number with some stunts in the music of ‘World, Hold On’ by Bob Sinclar. Jayvee Lyn Lorejo from Mawab, Davao de Oro played her saxophone and performed three songs namely ‘Killing Me Softly with His Song’ by Fugees, ‘The Way You Look Tonight’ by Michael Bublé, and ‘Binibini’ by Zack Tabudlo.

The candidate from San Manuel Isabela, Vjie Matias, serenaded the audience in the scenic places at her town while playing her guitar. She performed ‘Ako Naman Muna’ by Angela Ken. Proud of their cultural heritage, Shanyl Kayle Hofer of Minglanilla, Cebu has presented local form of ‘Singkil.’ She was seen dancing through four bamboo sticks dashing in red and yellow cultural attire.

From Iligan City, Jeramie Mingo performed the Maranaos’ ‘kini-kini,’ ‘kapamalong-malong,’ kapang-apir,’ and ‘Singkil’ folk dances. On her yellow gold attire, she was also seen blindfolded while stepping through the bamboo sticks during her performance. The candidate from the north, Chynna Kaye Verosil, has showed the folk dances from Pangasinan namely ‘Oasioas,’ ‘Binasuan,’ and ‘Binoyugan.’

Cherry May Regalado of Kalibo, Aklan proved why she is called the Queen of Blades by demonstrating her world-class ‘Pencak Silat’ routine. From Cabadbaran, Agusan del Norte, Krysti Ann Villarias, performed their local style of ‘Singkil’ which is a folk dance from the Maranao people of Lake Lanao.
