Religious leader and founder of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC), Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, denied the accusations regarding the existence of "Angels of Death" within the ministry.
Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality, Senator Risa Hontiveros, questioned Quiboloy about the alleged existence of the armed group known as the "Angels of Death" during the committee hearing on Wednesday.
"Imbento po nila ‘yan," Quiboloy responded.
In a presentation by PCol. Hansel Marantan, the Davao City Police Chief, he mentioned that Quiboloy capitalizes on the "Angels of Death" to instill fear among the inner circle of the KOJC.
Furthermore, PLtCol. Gene Licud, the Regional Field Unit Chief of CIDG Region 11, described the group "Angels of Death" as a tool used by Quiboloy to threaten members who violate the doctrine, teachings, and code of secrecy of the KOJC.
Based on PNP's investigation, the group was established in 1990. Quiboloy allegedly handpicked trusted members with military and security training backgrounds to compose the "Angels of Death," which were later utilized as a liquidation team at various KOJC locations nationwide.
"Members reportedly possess firearms and are supervised by Cresente Chavez Canada or also known as Enteng and Ingrid Canada," said Licud.
Moreover, the "Angels of Death" are described as secretive and loyal members of the KOJC who are capable of inflicting both physical and psychological harm on those who do not comply with Quiboloy's wishes.
“Functions as a private army. A weaponized wing of Quiboloy’s church used to coerce and control members particularly vulnerable young women, whom Quiboloy allegedly abused," Licud further stated.
The Philippine National Police (PNP), particularly the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), is conducting a continuous investigation to identify the alleged members of the "Angels of Death."
This includes profiling the suspected members and interviewing the families, relatives, and witnesses of the victims concerning the crimes committed.
The police presented a diagram illustrating the flow of instructions. It indicated that Ingrid Canada issues the instructions, while Cresente Canada is responsible for confirming them.
