The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim has categorically denied allegations linking Special Assistant to the President Antonio Lagdameo Jr. to corruption involving billions of pesos in development funds intended for the region.

In an official statement released by the BARMM government, Ebrahim condemned the allegations, stating that they were part of a smear campaign aimed at tarnishing the reputation of Secretary Lagdameo and the leadership of the Bangsamoro government.

"These libelous claims are entirely fabricated and are filled with ill intent. The Bangsamoro Government is studying its legal remedies against those who continue to malign its officers without evidence," Ebrahim said.

"As the election period nears, we call on everyone not only to veer away from personal attacks and false accusations, but also to be careful of malicious statements driven by selfish interest," he added.

While Ebrahim did not name the source of the accusations directly, the issue gained traction following comments made by former TESDA Chief Suharto Mangudadatu during a campaign event in Maguindanao del Norte.

Mangudadatu, who is running for governor in the upcoming elections, allegedly pointed to mismanagement of funds intended for BARMM development projects.

Ebrahim appealed for restraint as the elections approach, urging politicians to avoid personal attacks and baseless accusations that serve only self-interest.

He emphasized that the BARMM government is considering legal action against Mangudadatu for what they deem a malicious statement.
