Senator Ronald 'Bato' dela Rosa and Senator Robin Padilla, on Monday, conducted an ocular inspection in a money lending office in Tondo, Manila where ₱6.7 billion of shabu were seized last year.
In an interview with the media, Bato, who heads the Senate Committee on public order and dangerous drugs, said they visited Wealth and Personal Development (WPD) as part of the ongoing inquiry by the panel.
"Para naman meron kaming idea, ‘yung physical appearance of the crime scene dahil sige tayo banggit doon, WPD Lending Company at hindi naman natin alam kung saan banda ‘yan at hindi napuntahan. So minabuti natin na puntahan at ipaturo, mag-walk through tayo," he said.
Dela Rosa and Padilla were joined by Philippine National Police (PNP) - Drug Enforcement Group-Special Operations Unit PCapt. Jonathan Sosongco.
"Pina-walk through ko through Capt. Sosongco, tinuro niya ‘yung mga kinalalagyan nu’ng mga drugs na nakuha nila," Bato said.
In October last year, authorities seized 990 kilos of shabu or crystal meth worth ₱6.7 billion and arrested now-dismissed Police Master Sergeant Rodolfo Mayo Jr. who owned the WPD office.
Last April, Interior Secretary Benjamin Abalos revealed that there was an alleged cover-up attempt by some officials on the 990 kilos of shabu as seen in a series of CCTV footage.
During last week's hearing of the Senate committee on public order, Bato cited Sosongco and other police officers for contempt after they evade questions on the identity of their informant in connection with the seized ₱6.7 billion shabu.
