Like everyone else, King of Talk Boy Abunda has expressed his deep sadness over the now-trending separation of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, mostly known for their multi-awarded love team "KathNiel."
The separation was confirmed by the couple in separate posts on Instagram on November 30, telling everyone that their 11-year relationship has officially ended.
“Tunay na napakalungkot ng balitang ito para sa mga KathNiel, para sa mga kaibigan, para sa fans, and that includes me, dahil ako’y tagahanga po ng tandem na ito,” said Abunda in a video statement on Facebook.
According to him, the breakup just showed how much KathNiel is loved by people in the country, as they are still hoping that the couple will fix their relationship.
“I was wrong. Mali ako. I thought they would be able to fix what needed to be fixed.”
Despite the painful breakup, the King of Talk said he respects the couple's decision.
“I can imagine the pain, the excruciating pain they have to bear now, si Kathryn, si Daniel, ang KathNiels, ang fans. And I honor this pain."
“Umiiyak ako para kay KathNiel, as a fan and friend. Katulad ng marami, I respect their decision to part ways, knowing that they tried to save this love story with respect, but one that sadly ended also with respect,” he said.
Citing Kathryn's post, Abunda, meanwhile, applauds the actress for being "cautious", "respectful" and "circumspect."
"Ang paulit-ulit na sinasabi ng aking isipan ay class is not dead in show business. What a decent girl Kathryn Bernardo is. Napaka disente," Tito Boy said.
He also highlighted that breakups could be a "proper ending, no matter the pain."
On the other side, Tito Boy remembers how Daniel answered his question in one of his previous interviews, "What is the worse betrayal?" and answered, "To be forgiven."
Abunda said he had no idea regarding the reason behind Kathniel's breakup.
“I only know the love that they have for each other—a love that prevailed even when they decided to say goodbye.”
Tito Boy said that he did with KathNiel "some of their most important interviews" and became a witness to the couple's love story.
“Kahit konti, I witnessed the story, the narrative of Kathryn and Daniel, kaya sobra akong nalulungkot,” the King of Talk said.
“Kath, DJ, all the best and all the love. Maraming salamat," he added.
