Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. ordered the wearing of the Philippine Flag patch to be an integral part of the AFP-wide battle dress uniform starting on Thursday, July 4.
In a press conference in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City, Brawner said the move symbolizes the love for the country in accordance with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s initiatives of national pride and unity among Filipinos.
"As a chief of staff, I have authorized all personnel of the Armed Forces of the Philippines to wear our flag on our right arm for our battle dress uniform," Brawner asserted.
"This is to show the patriotism of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and this is also to align with the goals of Bagong Pilipinas," he added.
In the past, the Philippine Flag patch was only used when soldiers left the country or there were Baliktan exercises.
Brawner made the order following China's endless harassment and claims in the West Philippine Sea.
