A contingency plan has been laid out by San Jose Elementary School in Makati City, after a fire broke out on Saturday afternoon, ahead of the beginning of classes.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Makati, the fire broke out at 4:35 p.m. and was able to put it under control 20 minutes later. It was extinguished at around 5:38 p.m., damaging six classrooms collectively from the second and third floors of the building.

However, there is no guarantee that the affected classrooms will be repaired before the opening of classes this month.

The security guard on duty reported that no one was affected by the incident, as nobody was present at school that day.
