The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Thursday announced a revised list of vehicles that are allowed to ply the EDSA busway.
According to MMDA chief Romado Artes, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) approved their recommendation of allowing public utility buses, emergency vehicles, and the following convoys in the EDSA bus carousel lane:
- Convoy of the President
- Convoy of the Vice President
- Convoy of the Senate President
- Convoy of the House Speaker
- Convoy of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court
Artes noted that clearly marked government vehicles are no longer allowed in the busway. The implementation will start on Monday, November 20.
“The rule is that if the vehicle is not on the list of those exempted, then they will be apprehended and sanctioned. This will be strictly implemented starting Monday,” he added.
The EDSA Busway became a prominent topic this week following a report that MMDA Task Force Special Operations Chief Bong Nebrija allegedly stopped the convoy of Senator Ramon 'Bong' Revilla for using the exclusive EDSA Bus Carousel lane.
