Senator Cynthia Villar is the latest lawmaker to test positive for COVID-19, according to Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri on Tuesday.

Zubiri made the announcement during the upper chamber's plenary session.

"We just like to put on record that our distinguished colleague Senator Cynthia Villar has tested positive today for COVID-19. We would like to wish her well and pray for her speedy recovery and for all our members to also be extra careful in this time where COVID is still surging," he said.

Villar was the third senator who contracted the viral disease following Alan Peter Cayetano and Imee Marcos since the 19th Congress started last July 25.
