Dagupan City in Pangasinan recorded the highest heat index in the country at 47°C on Monday, April 15, according to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Based on PAGASA's highest computed heat index bulletin issued at 6PM, 47°C falls into the "danger" category which means the exposure to heat could cause heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and probable heat stroke.
This is the second time that Dagupan logged 47°C. The city first experienced a high heat index on March 27, 2024.
The state weather bureau also reported that Baler, Aurora had experienced "dangerous" heat index at 44°C while Aparri, Cayagan at 43°C.
The following provinces, meanwhile, had a 42°C heat index:
- Casiguran, Aurora
- ISU Echague, Isabela
- Laoag City, Ilocos Norte
- Calayan, Cagayan
As per PAGASA, Bacnotan, La Union recorded 41°C; Sinait, Ilocos Sur had 40°C; and NVSU Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya had 37°C. The aformentioned areas are under the "extreme caution" classification.
Meanwhile, Baguio City in Benguet province had heat index of 28°C, categorized as "caution."
