Amid the investigation into the alleged spying activities of dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo in the country, Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Gilbert Teodoro urged lawmakers to review the Espionage Law.

In an ambush interview at Camp Aguinaldo on Monday, the defense secretary emphasized the urgent need for legislation that would impose penalties on proven spies in the country.

Teodoro asserted that even though the alleged espionage activities of Guo are under investigation, it is clear that she is a Chinese national with evident connections to illegal activities.

Additionally, Teodoro noted that it is puzzling that local government units did not question the establishment of an illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) in the area, which is reportedly located near military camp in Tarlac.

"It is curious that a 32-building complex was operating within 2 minutes of flying time away from the TRADOC and the Light Armored Dvision," Teodoro said.

Teodoro insisted that authorities, particularly local officials, should be aware of the establishment of such facilities.
