According to the official, the total figure is already higher than the five-year average recorded in the province during the same period.

Back in 2021, there were 125 dengue cases recorded in the province and 141 back in 2020.

In 2019, however, there were a total of 5,074 cases of dengue and 2,087 cases in 2018.

In response to the growing number of dengue cases, the PHO has already sent out insecticides to all municipalities to stamp out mosquitoes.

Cortina also encouraged the public to participate in the residual spraying, search, and destroy, as well as "Operation Tumba" on mosquito breeding grounds.

The official also urged the continuous use of mosquito repellant as self-protection, as well as heading to early consultations when they begin exhibiting symptoms of the disease.
