On Thursday, September 12, the Department of Education (DepEd) convened their education partners from the private sector to prepare for the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) next year, including other priority initiatives.
Assistant Secretary for Curriculum and Teaching Janir Datukan shared an overview of PISA at the 2024 Stakeholders' Forum held at the DepEd Central Office. The plan was implemented by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
Additionally, general plans and activities aligned with PISA preparations were also presented during the forum.
During the Senate Committee on Finance Deliberations on DepEd's 2025 budget proposal, Education Secretary Sonny Angara shared how they were prepping to improve the sector.
"We intend to provide them (teachers and learners) with the resources. So, it's going to be like a bar exam," he mentioned.
Besides PISA, the department and its partners also discussed the possible improvements to the Senior High School Work Immersion program to enhance the employability of Senior High School learners.
The teachers' professional development and career enhancement will also be monitored in compliance with quality standards.
Angara showed appreciation for the 65 stakeholder attendees for helping DepEd.
"We appreciate your presence. We appreciate your help to the Department. And we look forward to further collaboration," he said.
