Fifteen more injuries related to fireworks were recorded from sentinel hospitals from Dec. 21. to 26, the Department of Health (DOH) disclosed on Monday.
In its Sentinel report No. 5, DOH said the overall tally is now 20, the same number recorded in December last year.
Of the 20, 11 individuals sustained injuries in the eyes, 6 in the hands, 2 in the forearm, and one in the back.
The health department said fourteen injuries occurred at home. At least 95 percent of the victims were males aged 1 to 64 years old.
The regions with the highest number of cases are Region VII - Central Visayas and Region XII - Socksargen with three fireworks-related injuries each.
The Ilocos Region, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Davao Region, and the National Capital Region (NCR) followed with two cases each.
Meanwhile, one case each was reported in Central Luzon, Region 4-A (Calabarzon), Region 4-B (Mimaropa), and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
