The Department of Health (DOH) warns the public against buying mpox vaccines from individuals or organizations claiming to sell "imported" ones from abroad.
"It has come to the attention of the Department of Health (DOH) that there may be organizations or individuals offering supposed Mpox vaccines “imported” from abroad. The public is cautioned against availing such vaccines," DOH said in a press release on Friday.
The DOH stated that these vaccines were brought into the country without proper oversight from regulatory agencies such as the DOH and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Additionally, mpox vaccines require specific storage and handling conditions. Without the safeguards provided by the DOH and FDA, there is no way to ensure their safety and efficacy.
The DOH advises everyone to obtain mpox vaccines from authorized sources once they are legally available in the country to ensure they receive safe, genuine, and effective vaccines, rather than a false sense of security.
