Last May 5, the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared that the Covid-19 as a Global Health Emergency has ended but still named Covid-19 as a threat.
The Department of Tourism (DOT) welcomes this declaration and mentioned that the end of the pandemic signals hope for the Philippines.
In a statement posted on the official facebook page, the DOT began their statement by welcoming the declaration.
“The Department of Tourism (DOT) is one with the entire nation in welcoming the World Health Organization’s declaration of the end of the Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) on Covid-19.” it said.
The government agency continued saying that the effects of the pandemic particularly the loss of life and livelihood caused a heavy burden on millions of Filipinos and tourism stakeholders and workers.
The Marcos administration has started to implement policies to fully open Philippine Tourism to the world in order to encourage the promotion and the creation of jobs, and usher in the influx of investment since tourism has an important part in bringing back the economy, as well as to, benefit many Filipinos.
The DOT ended their statement saying that the end of pandemic brings hope to tourism and that it will be a pride of place of the Filipinos.
“The end of the pandemic signals hope that tourism in the Philippines will continue to thrive and transform into the powerhouse that it can be fueled by the hard work, distinct hospitality, love and warmth, and pride of place of the Filipino people.”
