The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has handed out more than ₱700 million in aid to Severe Tropical Storm Kristine and Supertyphoon Leon victims.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) Executive Director, Ariel Nepomuceno, reported on Friday that the DSWD had supplied disaster victims with food packs and other food items, as well as family kits, hygiene kits, tents, among non-food items given out.
These amounted to ₱713.1 million, with ₱525,000 going to CALABARZON and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) municipalities, or over half a million beneficiaries.
This initiative is in line with President Ferdiand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s directive to prioritize the needs of affected families, especially those in evacuation centers.
