Filipino pole-vaulter EJ Obiena has 'fully recovered' from his lower back injury.
The 28-year old Asian record holder, who is currently in Formia, Italy, announced the development on Tuesday, October 29, in an Instagram post.
"I have been MIA here because I have been focusing myself on getting back into shape and be ready by January! Here’s to the start of 2025 season," Obiena said in his Instagram post.

After falling short of a podium finish in the 2024 Olympics in Paris, France, the camp of Obiena revealed that a back injury hindered his preparations for the quadrennial sports event.
Obiena competed in more tournaments after the Paris Games, but, last August, he announced a premature close to his 2024 season.
The 2022 Asian Games gold medalist divulged that a series of tests confirmed that he fractured his spine, and he decided to take a break from competition in order to avoid further worsening his spinal injury.
