Businessman and former politician Manny Villar is the Philippines' richest man, according to Forbes' World's Billionaires List for 2022.
Villar, who is 72 years old, has an estimated net worth of $8.3. billion (over P425 billion, according to Forbes, higher than his reported net worth of $7.2 billion the year before.
In the list, he landed in the 263rd slot among the richest individuals across the world, higher than his previous placement of 352nd back in 2021.
Villar joins the list of 19 other Filipinos who have billions of estimated net worth.
Enrique Razon Jr., who chairs International Container Terminal Services (ICTSI), is the second-richest man in the Philippines with an estimated $6.7 billion net worth. He placed #369 on Forbes' list.
Coming in third at the 1,096th place is Henry Sy, Jr., son of the late Henry Sy, Sr., who founded SM Investments. The Sy heir is currently the co-vice chairman of SM Investments, with an estimated net worth of $2.8 billion.
The fourth richest Filipino also at 1096th place is Andrew Tan, who chairs Alliance Global with an estimated net worth of $2.8 billion.
Members of the Sy family came in after Tan, namely Hans Sy and Herbert Sy at 1,196th place (each with $2.6 billion net worth), followed by Harley Sy and Teresita Sy-Coson at 1,292nd slot (each with $2.4 billion net worth), followed by Elizabeth Sy at 1,445th slot (with $2.1 billion net worth).
Finally, rounding up the top 10 of the list of richest Filipinos is Ramon Ang at 1,513th place with an estimated $2 billion net worth. He is the president and vice chairman of San Miguel, one of the country's oldest conglomerates.

According to Forbes, there are 2,668 billionaires across the world this year, 87 fewer than the previous year.
Together, these individuals have an accumulated estimated net worth of $12.6 trillion, $400 billion less than in 2021.
