Pop singer-songwriter and former One Direction member Liam Payne has passed away at the age of 31 after an incident at a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, local newspaper La Nacion reported on Wednesday.
According to the report, the British musician was found dead after falling from the third floor of the hotel. Emergency services responded to the scene following the incident.
Authorities were called to the hotel in the Palermo neighborhood of the Argentine capital after receiving an emergency call about "an aggressive man possibly under the influence of drugs and alcohol."
Payne first gained international fame in 2010 as part of One Direction, alongside Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, and Zayn Malik. The group, formed on the reality TV show The X Factor, went on to become one of the best-selling boy bands of all time.
With hits like What Makes You Beautiful and Story of My Life, the band captivated fans worldwide before announcing a hiatus in 2016, allowing the members to pursue solo careers.
After the group’s break, Payne launched a solo career, releasing successful singles such as Strip That Down and Bedroom Floor.
