Gilas drops 0-2 in FIBA U17 World Cup

The Philippine national boys team dropped out of contention the 2024 FIBA U17 World Cup after losing to Spain, 96-34, on Sunday, June 30, in Turkey.
Gilas Pilipinas never recovered after falling behind 30-2, at the end of the first quarter.
Bonn Ervin Daja registered 12 points to pace the Filipinos as they remain winless in the tournament after two games. Only Daja scored double digits for the Philippines.
Maximo Garcia-Plata, finished with 15 points and Guillermo Del Pino added 14 points to lead Spain that went up by a high as 62 points.

Gilas Pilipinas will have a chance to snag the first win of the team, and end the group stage with a victory when the squad faces Puerto Rico on Tuesday, July 2.
