The government is targeting to administer 10 million booster shots for the pediatric ages 12 to 17.

According to vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr., the judgment is in the hands of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the starting of the administration of the booster shot for the said age group.

Meanwhile, the government is also aiming to administer 15 million second dose of booster shot to the vulnerable sector which includes the health workers, senior citizens, and immunocompromised individuals.

The Department of Health (DOH) has intensified its efforts and strategies to reach the remaining 20% of the senior citizen who hasn't yet received their vaccines against COVID-19.

According to Galvez, this equates to 1.8 million senior citizens with no vaccines. He added that it is a priority for the government to find these remaining senior citizens and to intensify the vaccination efforts in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) and Region 12.
