The heat index in Iba, Zambales reached 53°C, categorized as "extreme danger" level by the state weather bureau PAGASA, on Sunday, April 28.
Based on PAGASA's latest five-day computed heat index, the heat index in Iba, Zambales rose to 53°C on Sunday from the 42°C record on Saturday, April 27.
Under the heat index of 53°C and beyond, the state weather bureau warned that heat stroke is imminent.

Trailing behind Iba, Zambales was CBSUA-Pili, Camarines Sur which had experienced a 49°C heat index or "danger" level, meaning heat cramps and heat exhaustion are likely to be experienced.
PAGASA also recorded 47°C in three places, namely Dagupan in Pangasinan; CLSU Munoz in Nueva Ecija; and Cubi Pt., Subic Bay Olongapo City.
Six areas reached 46°C and these are:
- Laoag City, Ilocos Norte
- Aparri, Cagayan
- Baler (Radar), Aurora
- Infanta, Quezon
- Coron, Palawan
- Aborlan, Palawan
Meanwhile, the heat index in the following areas hit 45°C to 42°C:
- Bacnotan La Union - 45°C
- Tuguegarao City, Cagayan - 45°C
- ISU Echague, Isabela - 45°C
- Clark Aiport, (DMIA), Pampanga - 45°C
- Ambulong, Tanauan, Batangas - 45°C
