House Speaker Martin Romualdez expressed his gratitude to the government of Singapore for the assistance given to the victims of severe tropical storm Kristine.
On Monday, October 28, Romualdez cited the vital role of the Singaporean Air Force assets in delivering critical aid to the hard-hit communities in the country. He thanked Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Ambassador to the Philippines Constance See for sending in a C-130 aircraft to reach thousands of Filipino families that were affected by the severe tropical storm.
“Ang tulong na kanilang ipinadala, lalo na ang C-130 aircraft mula sa Singapore Air Force, ay magagamit natin sa mabilis na paghahatid ng relief goods sa mga lugar na lubhang naapektuhan ng bagyo,” Romualdez said.
The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) deployed the aircraft to assist with the distribution of supplies in the Bicol region, one of the most affected areas by Kristine.
The Speaker noted the strong bilateral relationship between the Philippines and Singapore, adding that the latter is a “true friend” of the Philippines.
The House recently released P411 million of financial aid to 22 districts affected in the Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, and MIMAROPA.
“The expanded assistance includes additional funds and relief goods such as 2,500 relief packs per representative, provided in partnership with the Office of the Speaker and Tingog Partylist,” the House said.
Romualdez assured that the House will remain steadfast in providing aid to affected communities, adding that they will ensure that relief goods also reach the displaced communities.
