Ilocos Norte Governor, son of Senator Imee Marcos, Matthew Marcos Manotoc expressed sadness over recent statements made by Vice President Sara Duterte, in which she mentioned several members of their family, including his mother, his uncle President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., and his grandfather, former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr.
"I’m very saddened by the recent statements of our dear VP Inday Sara Duterte," Manotoc said in a social media post on Monday.
"Most of all, I was shocked to hear that Senator Imee R. Marcos was included as Sen. Imee has been a loyal friend and supporter to Sara for many years," he added.
According to Manotoc, his interactions with Vice President Duterte have always been friendly and professional.
He added that it is very disheartening to see Duterte take things personally, emphasizing that it is just politics.
He stated that with his comment on "just politics," personal feelings should not be involved, regardless of emotions. He emphasized the importance of saying and doing the right thing, and above all, prioritizing the needs of the people, as they are public servants.
Manotoc expressed hope that Duterte will find peace and conveyed his best wishes for her.

The Vice President stated that she made the threat to Senator Imee Marcos, the sister of President Marcos Jr., in a group chat where he had previously threatened to exhume the remains of their father, the late former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr.
