There will be no mandatory vaccination under Leody De Guzman should he win as president in the May elections, instead, he said he will incentivize it.
"Hindi ko gawing ima-mandatory ko. Hindi ko gagawin dahil nirerespeto ko yung pananaw nung ibang mga tao," he said in the Bakit Ikaw: The Presidential Job Interview.
(I will not make it mandatory. I will not do it because I respect people’s opinions over it.)
"Katawan nila 'yan, pero ako lahat ng paraan gagawin ko para makumbinse sila na magpabakuna pero hindi ako mamumwersa," he added.
(That is their body, but I will do everything to convince them to get vaccinated. But I will not force them.)
Instead of mandatory vaccinations, De Guzman said that he would be providing incentives to people who will get vaccinated, including paid leave for workers who will get the jabs.
"Maglabas ako ng executive order na lahat ng magpapabakuna ay may bakuna na day leave o kaya naman recovery leave, pwede kong gawin 'yun para maengganyo yung magpabakuna," he said.
(I will issue an executive order where people who will get vaccinated will get a vaccine leave or recovery leave. I can do that to encourage vaccinations.)
No home restrictions for unvaccinated
De Guzman also said that he will not be restricting the unvaccinated inside their homes, a controversial policy implemented by the government recently.
The presidential aspirant said that he will find a way to separate those who are vaccinated from the unvaccinated.
"Gagawa ako ng mekanismo kung papano natin mapaghihiwalay, kung magagawan ng paraan na mapaghiwalay yung pagbiyahe nila sa papuntang trabaho," he said.
(I will make a mechanism to separate them. I will find means to separate them while they are on their way to work.)
"Pwedeng gumawa tayo ng pamamaraan … hiwalay na sasakyan, hiwalay na upuan para dun sa mga hindi vaccinated," he added.
(We create a measure … where vaccinated and unvaccinated are in separate vehicles or separate seating areas.)
