Inclement weather continues to hinder search for missing plane in Isabela
by Kristan Carag31 January 2023

Almost a week since a Cessna 206 plane went missing after leaving the Cauayan Airport in Isabela on Tuesday, January 24, authorities continue to search for the aircraft and its six passengers.

Isabela Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Atty. Watu Foronda clarified that authorities have not found the wreckage of the Cessna plane.

"Ang nakikita lang sa ngayon ay mga puting bagay na nandoon sa kagubatan, kabundukan kaso hindi pa natin makumpirma dahil natatakpan ng ulap," Foronda said on Monday, January 30, during DZRH's Damdaming Bayan.

"Hindi maliparan ng helicopter para makita. Kahit sa drone, hindi natin makita," he added.

Foronda said that inclement weather has also hampered the attempts of search-and-rescue teams to approach the area on foot and check these white unidentified objects.

"Yung iba, bumabalik na. Sumusuko yung iba dahil nagkakasakit na pero patuloy lahat. Kapag nakapagpahinga, balik na naman sila sa bundok," Foronda explained.

"Yung iba na malakas-lakas ang katawan, meron sila dalang mga gamit at sila ay nag-kampo kung saan sila abutan ng gabi, at ipinagpapatuloy nila yung paglalakad sa kinabukasan," he assured.

Foronda assured that authorities continue to provide updates to the families of the passengers on board the missing plane.
