A Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) employee was killed by a motorcycle-riding shooter in Santo Tomas City in Batangas on Saturday.

The victim was identified as Leonardo Caronan, a BJMP employee posted to the Cabuyao City Jail in Laguna.

According to a preliminary police investigation, Caronan was going to close his mini-grocery store with his wife when the gunman approached and shot the victim numerous times around 8 p.m. Saturday.

The suspect took off on a single motorcycle towards the Maharlika Highway.

Meanwhile, the offender and the motivation for the shooting have yet to be identified by investigators.
