Following the assassination of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo earlier this day, his bereaved family demanded justice for his death.
Pamplona Mayor Janice Degamo, the governor's wife, called on the national government in a video posted on the governor's Facebook page, seeking justice for her husband's death.
"Among mga panghinaot isip ka-banay ni Governor Roel, matinud-on gyud unta sa national government and pagpangita, pangpaningil sa hustisya sa akong bana," she said.
(As Governor Roel's family, we hope that the national government will assist us in seeking justice for my husband.)
Mayor Degamo reflected on her husband's tenure as governor of Negros Oriental, claiming that he was a trustworthy leader to his constituents.
"Sa among paglantaw, si Governo Roel ra gyud ang nagpabiling malinawong leader, nga andam makig-tidhi sa mga dautan ug mga pamaagi nga dili tarong," she added.
(Governor Roel, recalling his leadership, is the only one who has remained a peaceful leader, ready to put an end to wrongdoings and unethical methods.)
"Among mga paghangyo, give the governor the justice he deserves," she stressed.
(The only thing we seek, is to give the governor the justice he deserves.)
She still believes in justice, claiming that there are still people who will do their jobs well without being swayed by money.
"Naa pa gyu'y hustisya. Naa pa gyu'y mga tawo nga dili matabunan ug kwarta nga mutabang nga makaplagan ni Governor Roel ang hustisya na angay dapat niya," the mayor ended her short speech.
(There is still justice in the world. I continue to believe that there are people who will not be swayed by money in order to give Governor Roel the justice he deserves.)
On Saturday morning, Governor Degamo was shot dead, alongside five other aides while on their duty for their constituents when they were raided and ambushed inside the governor's residence.
