The tandem of Senator Panfilo 'Ping' Lacson and Senate President Vicente 'Tito' Sotto III will be gunning for the two highest positions in the country for the 2022 national polls.
Lacson, who will be running for president along with Sotto as his vice president, confirmed the news on Tuesday.
Lacson and Sotto would be making an official announcement regarding the matter by August 4.
In May, Sotto revealed he was discussing with Lacson and 'some groups' the possibility of running for vice president in the upcoming elections.
Why run on 2022?
Sotto said their decision stemmed from their 'love of country' and their track record in government service — a combined 83 years of experience.
"It may sound corny to others. One of the reasons is the love of country," he said.
When asked what would make their tandem stand out among a field of candidates?
"Let me sum it up in three words based on what we can offer:kakayahan, katapatan, katapangan," he added.
The filing of certificates of candidacy for the 2022 elections is set for October.
