In a report by RH Boy Gonzales, several individuals who were at the DSWD to receive aid said the tree fell just after 1 a.m. due to strong winds and heavy rain.
The fallen tree caused damage to a portion of the DSWD office’s roof and destroyed several tents and chairs that were set up in the area but no injuries were reported.
Barangay 400 official, Kagawad Nestor Frio, reported that over 700 people had lined up to receive assistance. Some of them had been waiting since the previous night, having come from various locations to seek aid.
However, by 8 a.m., those who had lined up for assistance had left due to the suspension of work in government offices across Metro Manila, as announced by Malacañang.
