The Land Transportation Office (LTO) is set to release a resolution suspending the driver’s license of the Ferrari owner who got caught using the EDSA bus lane earlier this month.

In a statement on Wednesday, LTO Intelligence and Investigation Division (IID) said the Ferrari owner failed to show up for the second time.

A 90-day license suspension was recommended to LTO Assistant Secretary Teofilo Guadiz III, the agency said.

The Ferrari would also be placed under an alarm which means the driver would not be able to renew a license until he showed up at the agency.

Guadiz said he believe they had given the driver due process or enough time to defend and explain himself.

“In the interest of justice and the LTO’s strict adherence to proper legal procedure, we have extended all possible leeway for the driver/owner to explain why the violation was committed. Since there was failure to do so, we have no recourse but to apply the law,”

“Let this case also serve as an example that the LTO will not tolerate violations against traffic laws that were put in place for the safety of everyone, especially now that the country is still in a state of a national health emergency,” he added.

Guadiz said drivers who might attempt to commit the same violation in the future should “rethink” such actions.

The LTO issued a show cause order to the unnamed foreign national Ferrari owner on Oct. 20.

It directed the driver to appear before the LTO IID last Monday, Oct. 24, and explain why he should not be administratively liable and face suspension of license.
