P-pop groups SB19 and BINI were recognized as the ‘Voices of Asia’ at the Billboard K POWER 100 in South Korea on Tuesday, August 27.
Both groups were endorsed by Billboard Philippines for their impressive contributions and impact on the P-pop community and Filipino music. Both groups delivered their speeches to thank and uplift their communities.
SB19 and the Rise of Filipino Music
Josh mentioned how grateful they are to receive the award in a country that has inspired so many fellow Asian countries across the globe. He dedicated the award to the entire P-pop movement, OPM, and every Filipino who shares their creativity and passion across Asia and the world. He proceeded to thank their team, 1Z Entertainment, Sony Music, Billboard, Billboard Korea, and Billboard Philippines for giving them the platform to bring their music across and beyond borders, and beyond cultures.
“We would also like to give a shoutout to our fellow Filipinos, our fellow artists in here right now. BINI, we are very proud of you. They have been making waves right now, and of course, to our fellow A’tin, and our families, thank you for believing in us. You are the fuel for us to push boundaries, for having this award right now. Thank you so much,” he ended.
Meanwhile, Pablo also included the entire P-pop community for their recognition. Its mission is to bring Filipino artists' reach to the global stage, starting in Asia.
“I would just like to add, to every Filipino artist, creative, and the music legends before us; you inspire us so much to grow and to excel without losing heart. As voices of Asia, we are so proud to stand alongside our fellow Asian artists showcasing the diversity and the richness of our culture through our music,” he stated.
Pablo thanked all of their supporters and urged fellow artists to keep striving for excellence and to create with a heart of service for oneself, the fans, and God.
“Ama, salamat at ikaw ang agimat. Bawat banat, patuloy na iwawagayway ang watawat. Mabuhay ang musikang Pilipino. Maraming salamat po,” he ended.
BINI and the Endless Possibilities in Music
During their acceptance speech, BINI member Aiah mentioned that standing before several incredible artists and industry leaders is a dream come true for them. She proceeded to thank Billboard Korea and said that the moment would be added to their core memories.
“On behalf of BINI, it's ultimately an honor and we are so grateful to receive this award. But you see, this award isn’t just for us, it’s also for those people who believe in us and who have been a part of our journey,” she said.
“From our hardworking team and management, ABS-CBN, to our music label Star Music, to the composers and songwriters who have contributed such memorable songs for BINI, thank you so much,” Aiah added.
She thanked their supporters, their fans, Blooms, for the love and dedication they continue to receive. Aiah also honored Billboard Philippines for recognizing them in their continual strive to champion Filipino music.
Meanwhile, Jhoanna also expressed her appreciation for their supporters and inspirations.
“Being here tonight with so many talented artists who inspire us to keep pushing boundaries, and to share our music with the world. This award reminds us that anything is possible with hard work and dedication,” she said.
She spoke highly of their fellow artists and P-pop group, SB19, stating that they have been their inspiration. She also mentioned that they are just “full of happy emotions”, as it is their first time to be in Korea as a group.
“Patuloy po naming iaangat ang musikang Pilipino. Maraming maraming salamat po,” she ended.
The Billboard K POWER 100 event happened in line with Billboard Korea’s launch. The ceremony was done to highlight the impact and influence of Korean music globally. It was held on August 27 at The Shilla Seoul.
