A magnitude 4.9 earthquake hit East of Burgos, Surigao del Norte on Tuesday night, July 2, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.

According to the state seismologists, the earthquake originated from a tectonic event and hit at 11:32 p.m.

It has a depth of 19 kilometers.

PHIVOLCS reported intensities in the following areas:

Intensity III - Hinunangan, Southern Leyte
Intensity II - Hinundayan, SSouthern Leyte
Intensity I - Abuyog, Leyte
Meanwhile, PHIVOLCS said no damage or aftershocks would likely occur.
