Mangliwan earns finals spot in Paris Paralympics

Filipino wheelchair racer Jerrold Mangliwan remains in contention for a medal in the 2024 Paralympics in Paris, France.
The 2022 Asian Para Games gold medalist snagged one of the eight spots in the finals of the men's 400 meters T52 event after he placed fourth in his heat and seventh overall, with a time of one minute and 5.79 seconds.
Maxime Carabin of Belgium topped the first round with a time of 54.48 seconds, a new Paralympic record, followed by Japanese pair Tomoki Sato, and Tomoya Ito, who clocked in 58.42 seconds, and one minute and 0.42 seconds, respectively.
Mangliwasn will target a podium finish when he returns to action on Saturday, August 31 (Manila time).
