President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. assured the public of the government’s readiness to respond to the eruption of Kanlaon Volcano in Negros Island.
In an ambush interview, Marcos stated that the government will support families evacuated from the 6-km danger zone.
Additionally, food packs and other essential supplies have already been sent to the evacuation centers.
Marcos mentioned that Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian already visited the area to assess the situation and determine the needs of the evacuees.
"We're ready. We know what to do and we already started to send food packs and we already started to send all of the things that we bring to those who are in evacuation centers," said Marcos.
According to RH Leth Narciso's report, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) are continuously monitoring the air quality in the region.
Monitoring the air quality is crucial to determine whether evacuation is necessary for people outside the danger zone.
Marcos also guaranteed that the government is ready with sufficient and necessary funds to assist the affected communities.
