President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. declared January 9 a special non-working day in the City of Manila in observance of the Feast of Jesus Nazareno.
Proclamation No. 766, signed on Friday, states that millions of devotees are expected to gather at the Quiapo Church and throughout the City of Manila.
The proclamation also stated that it was issued in response to a request from the City of Manila to declare the Feast of Jesus Nazareno a special non-working day, ensuring an orderly procession of devotees and facilitating the smooth flow of traffic.
Authorities, in coordination with the management of the Minor Basilica and National Shrine of the Black Nazarene, have announced the Traslacion route for the feast.
This year's Traslacion will begin at the Quirino Grandstand, following the Holy Mass to be held at the venue. The procession will conclude once the image is returned to the Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Jesus Nazareno.
The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has already begun its full preparations for the upcoming Feast, implementing heightened security measures to maintain order and ensure the safety of devotees.
Over 14,000 officers will be deployed, including 12,168 for area and route security, and 2,306 personnel serving as augmentation forces.
Every year, millions of devotees gather in the heart of Manila, Quiapo, to celebrate the feast.
