President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. was welcomed by British government officials when he arrived in London to attend the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla.
"Sinalubong si PBBM ng representante ni King Charles III upang bigyan ng mainit na pagtanggap sa bansa," the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said in a Facebook post on Friday night.
It also said that upon his arrival at Gatwick airport, Marcos was given a tour around the world's busiest airport, and he also met with its airport officials.
"Ito ay para makakalap ng mga ideya sa pagpapabuti ng operasyon ng mga airport sa Pilipinas," PCO noted.
Meanwhile, House Speaker Martin Romualdez, part of the President's delegation, shared some photos of their arrival in the UK on Facebook.
"Pagdating sa Gatwick airport, na kinikilala bilang pangalawa sa pinaka-abalang paliparan sa buong mundo, pinangunahan agad ng ating Pangulo ang pakikipagpulong sa mga opisyal ng paliparan," he said, adding that this move is a way to learn the best practices of the airport and apply this in the Philippines.
Marcos flew straight to the United Kingdom from his four-day trip in the Washington, United States on Thursday, May 4.
In an interview with the reporters, the chief executive said that he will be meeting with United Kingdom Prime Minister Rishi Sunak during the sidelines of his trip to the European country.
