As the country commemorates the 37th anniversary of the historic EDSA People Power Revolution, President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. on Saturday said he is offering his "hands of reconciliation" to those of different political persuasions.

"As we look back to a time in our history that divided the Filipino people, I am one with the nation in remembering those times of tribulation and how we came out of them united and stronger as a nation," Marcos Jr., the son of late former president Ferdinand Marcos Sr., who was ousted by Filipinos in 1986 through the People's Revolt in EDSA, said in a message posted on his Facebook.

He asked those who have different political persuasions to come together in a bid to forge a "better society—one that will pursue progress, peace, and a better life for all Filipinos."

Aside from the message, the President also sent flowers for the People Power Monument in Quezon City.

The local government of Quezon City, together with the National Historical Commission of the Philippines and various groups, gathered and held a program at the EDSA Monument on Saturday morning.
