Celebrity couple Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes will be given special honors at this year's Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) awards following the success of their 49th Metro Manila Film Festival film entry "Rewind."
The actors will receive the Bida sa Takilya Award — an award given to those who star in blockbuster movies.
"Rewind" has become the highest-grossing film in the Philippines after earning over P900 million at the domestic box office. It is currently available on Netflix.
The film follows the marriage of Mary and John whose lives get tangled, leading to a strained relationship between them. Mary suffers a tragic accident, sending John into a spiral until he gets a proposition that allows him to rewind time and save the woman he loves.
The blockbuster film premiered on Dec. 25 after being one of the 10 entries for the 49th Metro Manila Film Festival.
Meanwhile, the FAMAS Awards will be held on May 26 at the Fiesta Pavilion at the Manila Hotel.
